In other words: Dinky. But if you watch that video you can make them slightly less dinky. For the level of detail in the game, I wouldn't call them dinky. I have an i9 k, ti, 32gb ram and run from an NVME drive So no idea how you are meant to have even bigger than that and call it playable.
That of course, is with Transport Fever Yes they are "dinky". But with the way that the Game and graphics are set up, that is unavoidable. What is a shame is that the Devs have not realised that they could create a whole different game, more of a Network Simulatiuon if they only added a 10x zoom facility Now that could create a situation where realistic km square maps were practical with the existing hardware.
Originally posted by juliejayne :. I too don't see bigger maps happening on current systems. Even with your sketchy "zoom" feature. The problem are the agents that handle all the cargo and passengers. Late game you got a whole bunch of them and your cpu will surrender, even if it is top tier. Just a question of how hard you push. I have a problem. I have the gog version of the game and I am changing the experimental map size to true from false however when I try to load a map that is larger than the normal I do get a mapheight error message and that pixels can't be higher than 16MB. I seached all over the place and no solution.
This is with downloaded maps. Any help or solution to my problem? I am using maps downloaded from the community here so I guess the map sizes don't apply or can help resolve my issue.
Anyways thank you for the answer. I wanted to load the map "Whiplash", which is, at the moment impossible for me. I have the same error message. I changed the experimental map size to "true" already. Problem solved here. Restarted computer then. Yes that's it. You have to enable experimental map sizes in settings lua file. You just have also the possibility to bigger maps and also tiny size?
Otherwise the game will tell you it is not allowed to load such a big map. I had the same problem and it seems that if you have the game running in the main menu, while changing the settings, it wont look at the newly saved file, but instead still has loaded the old version. And it kinda overwrote it back to false.
If i remember correctly. When i edited and saved the settings file when the game was closed, it didnt change the file automaticly. Since then it works. Hello all, I have a problem. Any ideas anybody? Kind regards Krabs. Zitat von MrKrabs. Hi Gents, [ I started "the mountain pass" again. Haven't played for a while.
The first published video? The game play video wasn't the first published video. The game play video clearly used a small map to allow them to showcase things a bit easier and perhaps mask performance problems? Agreed, looked small, but as it was an Island map I think that kind of makes sense. I also am curious if map sizes have changed from TF1.
I can't imagine they are smaller. I would think worse case they are the same sizes. I'm sure somebody who has played will be able to tell us soon. Huperspace View Profile View Posts. I want to create a custom map and I've already been using another as the basis for it. However, I don't know how to make the map bigger. What do I need to do? EDIT: Never mind, it seems to depend on the size of the heightmap.
The max mapsize are limited to 16 mio Pixels.Transport Fever Ep 2 - Largest Custom Map Size? No Problem!
For more information look here: Heigtmaps Erlaube Abmessungen Only german but that should not the problem. Well that sucks bigtime, it's one of the main things that made me want this game. Well that's just plain disappointing. What's the point of having larger map sizes if you can only have the ugly and boring generated maps? I hope so. I bet we're gonna get some good updates I always found Train Fever a bit lacklustre in that regard. They did some small gameplay fix and some UI changes, and then they were done.
With these kinds of games, new gameplay and content gets added after release more often than not. I was immensely disappointed too when I discovered that they limited to 16 mpx the maximum side of user created maps. I believe that they did it to prevent bad game performances in ultralarge maps. But the game already has a performance drop when the map populates too much, asides from the map dimensions. It has more to do with the number of agents and vehicles, so limiting the map dimension is pointless.
Another things that bothers me, as an enthusiast map builder, is that the game try always to automatically create a road network in you map, with ugly results island towns ends up always with long oceanic bridges to the mainland and even preventing you to use a map if the game fails to create the automatic roads network.
Experimental Map Size
Without a proper editor, in mountainous maps it is really a pain to add cities and industries because the game won't accept cities or industries that can't be reached by normal roads and doesn't try to build tunnels in mountains. I really hope that the Devs will get us rid of these pointless and frustrating limits to our creativity. Enjoy Huge and Megalomaniac sizes.
